Center for Cyber Strategy and Policy

The intersection of cyber innovation and design

The Center for Cyber Strategy and Policy (CCSP) seeks to advance the study of cybersecurity through an interdisciplinary perspective, combining multiple facets of the social sciences.

At CCSP I was involved in an array of different projects; I created animated educational videos, operation training materials, a poster series, and more.

CYBER VISUALIZATIONS

CSSP tasked me with creating accessible educational videos that illustrate complex cyber concepts. This first visualization is based of Chapter 1 of "Cyber Persistence Theory: Redefining National Security in Cyberspace,"  by: Michael P. Fischerkeller, Emily O. Goldman and Richard J. Harknett .

This video seeks to explain the concept of not just Cyber Persistence Theory, but the paradigm shift that must happen in the industry as a whole.

CYBERSECURITY POSTER SERIES

I wanted to create an educational poster series that was eye catching, engaging to a wide evidence, and more visually interesting than the majority of educational materials in the cyber industry.

I brought together my passion for vintage media and cyber safety practices to establish a pulp comic style visual language, full of color and interesting type.

As of April 2023 , the ongoing series of posters is currently being featured in the Department of Defense Cyber Command Center in Maryland, as well as being considered for national distribution.

CYBER CRISIS SIMULATION

Much like the army reserve, the Ohio Cyber Reserve is a group of trained cyber professionals that can be called in the event of a crisis. In order to effectively prepare for emergencies, these reservists also need “boot camp” training.

For Cyber professionals, “boot camp” is a Cyber Crisis Simulation; a week-long exercise that puts participants through a fictional cyber crisis. 2023’s Cyber crisis involved the fake town of “Mittelberg, Ohio”, a local government going through a multitude of cyber attacks.

I created the materials for the last two cyber simulations, including (but not limited to ) a full magazine, website, newspaper, and countless “government” documents in order to bring the fictional crisis to life.

CYBER SALON POSTERS

Once monthly, CCSP hosts a virtual lecture or “salon” with cyber professionals and academics.

I was tasked with reinventing the visual language while maintaining a cyber/UC feel. The posters had to have a consistent look while featuring imagery specific to the individual talks.
